Welcome to a series of DIY tips and tricks for using Canva in your social media and marketing: using templates.
Canva DIY Basics: using templates in social media or other marketing.
If you have been using Canva, even just a little, you should be greeted by a dashboard like the above, once you have selected what type of project you want to be working on, in this case, social media.
If you are new to Canva, navigate to the templates by using the menu on the far left > select templates > select social media > select Facebook or any other format you want to work on.
Templates are a great way to get those design juices working! Don't be afraid to use them.
Tip #1 - Pick a template that speaks to you right away
The chances are if it jumps out at you, it will jump out at your audience. Using this to your advantage, you are now going to make it relevant to what you want to say and your business.
Tip #2 - Branding!
Branding consistency is key. If you have a brand kit (a folder of different format logos for different applications, colour codes, and fonts) click the left side menu to access it, otherwise, please see my blog about adding your branding to Canva.
Then change the colours to your brand colours, add your logo (the one that best matches the layout), change the text to what you want to say, and don't forget to change your font!

Tip #3 - Make it personal
Keep your social media posts real. Add images, stories, and experiences. People interact with posts that resonate with them. Reviews, answers to questions, and help all build your brand trust and get more interactions.
Tip #4 - Mix it up
Change the template to fit your brand. Use it as a guide to create a better post!
Move items around, delete irrelevant images, don't stick to the template exactly, and make it your own.
Tip #5 - Finish strong and save it
Now that you have a good, strong branded post, SAVE IT. Make it a brand template and reuse it. Reusing your own branded templates will create consistency in your social media marketing, which aids current and future customers in brand recognition.
Using templates effectively can save time
Using templates is an easy, effective way to make your own branded templates to reuse as often as you like. Just make sure you adjust the template to match your brand. Once you have your own brand templates - it saves you time to change the content!
Or contact us and we can create some branded templates for you to use, already brand specific, they would add to your brand kit to keep your consistency strong and your brand recognisable.
Glad to help!
